Discover Brampton was created by the local Parish Council, with the objective of promoting the beautiful small village situated in the north of Cumbria to potential visitors, while encouraging more overnight stays and spending within the local economy. MUV were brought on board to create a brand, design and build a visitor facing website and launch and run an ongoing marketing campaign via social media.
Step 1 was brand…
We started by getting to know that area and what makes it special. The idea of history meeting nature quickly came about due to Brampton’s proximity to heritage attractions, including World Heritage Site, Hadrian’s Wall. Our brand concept was born out of this idea of capturing the historical and visual focal points of the area (Hadrian’s Wall, Moot Hall), while placing them within the abundant, stunning natural surroundings (Talkin Tarn, North Pennines).
Alongside a range of brand executions, we created a brand guideline including complimentary typography choices, colour palettes and a content strategy, meaning a consistent approach could be achieved from the start.
The site was designed to put the brand at the forefront of the user experience. We were keen to communicate a strong sense of identity around Brampton as a whole, while making it easy for visitors to find the content they were looking for. We split content into two categories, Businesses and Locations, creating a unique page layout for each – this allowed us to further customise the user journey and experience based on intent.
Built on the WordPress platform, the completed site is very straightforward to edit and update, meaning further business listings and content can easily be added. Following the launch of the website, the new brand was launched across social media, with content going out on a regular basis.
All elements of the project, including the ongoing marketing campaign, are tied back to our strategy of promoting the key themes that make Brampton such a unique and special place to visit. Put it on your list!
On an ongoing basis, and as part of the campaign we have maintained the website content. Be it adding to the itinerary part of the website, adding new business profiles, or updating existing information. All with a view to developing a useful resource for potential visitors to the Brampton area.
As well as featuring businesses and attractions in and around the village, we put together a series of themed itineraries for day or weekend visitors. The content was used across the site and was condensed down into social media posts as required. This was also an opportunity to get local businesses involved, as featuring them in an itinerary was a net positive to all commercial interests in the village.
The social media work undertaken focused on highlighting Brampton as a tourist location, utilising a range of platforms. Content created centered around the location, food & drink, shopping, accommodation, events and attractions, undertaken in conjunction with local businesses. Supporting this, we put together a series of suggested itineraries for day or weekend trips, providing inspiration for prospective visitors to the area.
