We have recently celebrated our 10th birthday with a celebration at our offices in Cark. The anniversary has allowed us to reflect on the growth and evolution of the company over the past ten years. MUV, set up by Managing Director David Hamer in 2011, has grown from just one employee to become a team of seven people.
MUV was originally set up by David, when he identified a growing market for building websites and optimising them for search engine listings. David was working for Blackburn College at the time which meant a lengthy commute, and with a growing family he was keen to spend more time in Cumbria, and less time driving up and down the M6. With this in mind he set up the company, calling it ‘Make us a Website’, describing the services offered at the time. In 2016, the company rebranded to ‘Make Us Visible’ to better represent the services they offered. Speaking about the evolution of the business, David commented, “Marketing has changed drastically over the last 10 years. In 2011, digital marketing was usually a small percentage of companies’ spend, but it is now the core of most marketing budgets. We originally focused on building websites, but now we offer many different services to help companies get found online. At first our client base was predominantly local, but now our client base spans from Haverthwaite to Hong Kong!”.
MUV is a Google certified partner and in 2014, Adele Hamer joined the business as PPC Manager, making it a family enterprise. Speaking about the brand name, Adele commented, “We rebranded in 2016 to focus more around online visibility. We were no longer just about building websites, we needed to be able to offer more services to ensure that our clients’ websites would be found. We now offer a whole host of services including social media campaigns, pay-per-click advertising and content marketing”.
We have been based at our offices in Cark since 2011 but have gradually expanded to seven members of staff each with their own speciality. MUV has a focus on growth and development and earlier this year, project manager Gareth Bullock became a business director. Speaking about his role during the past year Gareth commented, “At the peak of the Covid pandemic we saw a huge growth in clients wanting to expand their online offering. My role involves project managing the development of websites from start to finish and over the past 18 months we have seen traditionally offline businesses develop their online presence by creating new e-commerce websites”.
In conclusion, David commented “we are delighted to be celebrating our 10th birthday and I am really looking forward to the next 10 years, helping many businesses to achieve their marketing goals”.
